With the NFL draft 4 days away here is another mock draft. I have added rounds 4 and 5. This is a predictive mock and not what I believe should happen.
There is only one predicted trade, the New York Jets trading for Aaron Rodgers for the 42nd pick.
I will post my final mock draft on Wednesday night so make sure to check back. Follow me on Twitter @TheFootballNick
1. Carolina Panthers (from Chi): Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
Since trading up, it was obvious that the Panthers would be drafting a Quarterback, but now in the last week it has become clear that this Quarterback is Bryce Young. Despite his small size, which is an overblown concern, Young is mine and the draft media's top Quarterback. He has the accuracy, anticipation and pocket presence to be a good NFL Quarterback. Expect him to be named the starter before training camp.
2. Houston Texans: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
No one is certain what the Texans are going to do with this pick, including myself. However, in the last 24 hours the betting odds have shifted to having Will Levis as the pick. It seems to be an open secret that Bryce Young is number one on their board, but after that no one knows. It does seem like they are not high on C.J. Stroud. I believe they are internally torn on whether to take a Quarterback or draft their top edge rusher. The coaching staff probably wants an edge rusher, but ownership likely wants a Quarterback. Nick Caserio is the wild card. The bottom line is they have gone the last two seasons with having a capable or high-upside Quarterback. Are they really going to make it three? They could draft an edge rusher here and a Quarterback at 12, but they run the risk of missing out entirely. In summary, I am leaning towards them drafting a Quarterback here, but will spend a lot of time thinking about this before I write my final mock. Will Levis is a high-upside and athletic quarterback who fits well in the Shanahan offense.
3. Arizona Cardinals: Will Anderson Jr., EDGE,, Alabama
The Cardinals will either trade this pick or select Will Anderson, and I am not sure who is willing to trade up for a quarterback now. The Cardinals not only need to revamp their defensive line, they need to infuse their roster with talent. Will Anderson Jr. is the best player available, and will help to fill the void left by J.J Watts retirement.
4. Indianapolis Colts: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State
The Colts are selecting a Quarterback as every indication since the end of the season has pointed to this. I am cooling on the idea of the Colts drafting Anthony Richardson, as I believe I and many others fell for his combine hype. Before the combine he was the consensus 4th Quarterback, but immediately afterward his stock shot up. While he tested well, it was expected. This leaves C.J. Stroud and Will Levis, and since Levis is gone, the pick is Stroud. Stroud gives the Colts a highly accurate Quarterback with great anticipation. He will mostly work from the pocket, but has some decent scrambling ability. Expect him to be named the starter before training camp.
5. Seattle Seahawks (from Den): Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech
Following the conclusion of their season, Pete Carroll said "We are going to have to become more dynamic upfront...We have to rush the passer better". While draft season is lying season, coaches are honest in January. Given this, I expect the Seahawks to heavily invest in their front seven. I believe their top five on their draft board is, in order, Bryce Young, Will Anderson, Tyree Wilson, Jalen Carter, and Devon Witherspoon. Young and Anderson are gone, so that makes Wilson the pick. Tyree Wilson's length and athleticism makes him a great fit in Carroll's defense. He gives them a versatile edge rusher who gives them the flexibility to play both 3 and 4 man fronts.
6. Detroit Lions (from LAR): Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
I believe Detroit is hoping that either Will Anderson or Tyree Wilson falls to them, but in this mock that is not the case. Jalen Carter is a possibility here, but I am not convinced they will take a player at 6th overall who has concerns about his effort. Instead they go with a Cornerback, Devon Witherspoon, who balls out on every play. While they did sign Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley in free agency, a team can't have enough Cornerbacks. However, this is a best player available over a need pick. Devon Witherspoon gives the Lions a third starting caliber Cornerback, completing what would be a drastically improved secondary. He also gives them a Cornerback who will excel in man coverage.
7. Las Vegas Raiders: Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
While many are mocking Anthony Richardson here, and he is available, I don't believe the Raiders moved on from Derek Carr to play a rookie Quarterback who needs development. Josh McDaniels runs an offensive system demanding a high percentage of completions, and Richardson is not that Quarterback. Instead, they go with the best available player, which is Christian Gonzalez Since the Raiders run a mix of man and zone, he is also a perfect fit.
8. Atlanta Falcons: Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia Atlanta
has needed to upgrade its pass rush for awhile, and a large part of the reason is because they have not spent significant draft capital on the defensive line recently. Drafting Nolan Smith can change this. He has the athletic upside to become a top edge rusher and his high motor will be a welcome addition to the team's culture.
9. Chicago Bears (from Car): Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
This would be a dream come true scenario for Chicago. They get a top three talent and fill a massive need at the same time. He is an athletic and versatile interior defensive lineman who is borderline unblockable. For the Bears, he would primarily play as the 3-tech, which is arguably the most essential position in their defense.
10. Philadelphia Eagles (from NO): Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern
The Eagles love drafting lineman, and I expect that trend to continue with this pick. I believe they are targeting Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith and Peter Skoronski specifically, and since only Skoronski remains, he is their pick. Skoronski is a highly technical and versatile lineman and has the ability to play all five positions. This year he will compete with Cam Jurgens for the right guard spot while being the swing tackle. He then can be the successor for Lane Johnson when he retires.
11. Tennessee Titans: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
The Titans have heavily focused on scouting quarterbacks, and there is a lot of smoke about them trading up. While I don't see them trading up, it makes a lot of sense for them to draft a quarterback if one of the top four are available. Ryan Tannehill is in the final year of his contract and is 34 years old. It does not make sense to resign him. Anthony Richardson has the upside to develop into a starting quarterback but will need some time to develop. He can sit behind Tannehill for the better part of this season before becoming the full time starter in 2024.
12. Houston Texans (from Cle): Lukas Van Ness, EDGE, Iowa
I expect the Texans to draft an edge rusher with one of their two first round picks. Since, I have them drafting a Quarterback at two, it is a given to give them an edge here. Lukas Van Ness gives the Texans a high upside pass rusher with an emphasis on power. He also has inside and out versatility.
13. New York Jets: Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State
I still believe the Jets will trade for Aaron Rodger's, but it won't cost them the 13th pick. Instead it will cost them 42 and a conditional 2024 pick. So assuming they fill their biggest need in Quarterback, it is time for them to fill their next biggest need which is Offensive Tackle. Paris Johnson Jr. just happens to be available, and this is the floor for him. From day 1, he will compete with Mekhi Becton at Left Tackle.
14. New England Patriots: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
With Bill Belichick as head coach, the Patriots have often been a run heavy team, but without Tom Brady or any other top quarterback, it appears that they are doubling down on their run first approach. Bijan Robinson gives them an elite running back talent who can elevate their running game to the next level as both a runner and receiver. Paired with Rhamondre Stevenson, they would form the best one-two punch. Also, Belichick has employed a best player available approach regardless of position, and Robinson is clearly the best available.
15. Green Bay Packers: Keion White, EDGE, Georgia Tech
Here is a shocker. 11 of the Packer's last 12 first round picks have defensive players and I don't see that changing now. The Packers are trying to transform themselves into a run-heavy defensive team. Plus, it is too early to draft any of the Tight Ends. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a possibility, and he just meets their WR, thresholds, but I just don't see them breaking their tendency to avoid first round Wide Receivers. So instead they look to strengthen their pass rush. The Packers have a tendency to value players with great vertical and broad jump numbers. Myles Murphy only jumped 31 inches in the Vertical and didn't perform a broad jump. Lukas Van Ness, while not available in this mock but is commonly mocked to the Packers, also only jumped 31 inches in the vertical and only jumped 9 foot 10 inches in the broad. This seemingly eliminates both players. On the other hand, Keion White posted 34 inches in the vertical while weighing 285. I expect the Packers to try and trade down, but if they can't they would draft White here.
16. Washington Commanders: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
There is a good chance that Broderick Jones goes higher, but Commanders are glad he is available. While Offensive Tackle isn't widely viewed as a big need, Charles Leno is getting up there in age. This is a chance for Washington to secure their Left Tackle of the future. Jones excels at run blocking which fits perfectly in their run first culture. In his rookie season, he can compete with Nick Gates and Andrew Wylie at Left Guard and Right Tackle, before eventually moving to Left Tackle.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Darnell Wright OT, Tennessee
It is time for the Steelers to get serious about upgrading their offensive line as both of their current starting Offensive Tackles are subpar. Darnell Wright excelled at the Senior Bowl and combine, and will go much higher than many fans predict. He fits the mold of large powerful offensive linemen that embody the Steelers image. He would likely be their day one starter at Right Tackle.
18. Detroit Lions: Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson
The Lions have focused heavily on drafting premium positions, especially along the lines. So I expect the Lions to draft an edge rusher with either 6 or 18, and since I have them drafting a Cornerback at 6, it makes sense for them to draft one here. Myles Murphy is a high-motor rusher which makes him a perfect fit with the Lions culture.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Brian Branch, CB, Alabama
I believe that the Buccs are targeting an Offensive Tackle or edge rusher, but with the top 4 OT,s and top 6 edges gone they pivot to the secondary. Brian Branch is a plug and play Nickel cornerback who can be an upgrade over the projected starter in Dee Delaney, while also providing the versatility to play some safety.
20. Seattle Seahawks: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
Based on talent Jaxon Smith-Njigba should go 5-8 picks earlier, but it is tough to slot him to the teams picking in that range. I wouldn't be surprised if a team trades up for him, but if he is available I can't see the Seahawks passing on him. After D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, their Wide Receiver room is bare. He would primarily play in the slot and be a great fit in the highly structured offense they have transitioned to with Geno Smith at Quarterback.
21. Los Angeles Chargers: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
The Chargers need to add another playmaker to their offense. There are no Wide Receivers worth selecting here and this is too early for Jahmyr Gibbs. So they go with the first Tight End in Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid gives them a weapon who can be a monster over the middle of the field, but also has the ability to block. Adding another Tight End also allows them to play more 12 personnel.
22. Baltimore Ravens: Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland
Outside of Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton when he is lined up in the slot, the Ravens Cornerback group is awful. There just so happens to be a high-caliber Cornerback prospect available in Deonte Banks. Banks is a highly athletic and physical Cornerback, who excels in press-man on the outside but has ability to play in zone. He would allow the Ravens to continue playing man coverage at a fairly high rate.
23. Minnesota Vikings: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State
It is no secret that the Vikings need to upgrade at Cornerback, especially given that Brian Flores' defense requires Cornerbacks who can hold up in man coverage one-on-one during blitzes. Joey Porter Jr. excels in man coverage, making him an excellent fit.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars: O'Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida
Doug Pederson wants an offensive lineman with the first overall pick last year, but Trent Baalke drafted a defensive lineman. Now Pederson gets another lineman to protect Trevor Lawrence in O'Cyrus Torrence. Torrence will provide a much needed boast to the interior of their line.
25. New York Giants: John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota
While Wide Receivers are the popular options due to a big need at the position, the Giants have a bigger need at Center. They neglected the position during Free Agency, which is often an indication that a team intends to fill that need during the draft. While not a sexy pick, John Michael Schmitz is a day one starter, who will help them strengthen their running game.
26. Dallas Cowboys: Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
During the playoffs it became clear that the Cowboys need an upgrade at their number two Wide Receiver spot. And despite trading for Brandin Cooks, the Cowboys can still use an X receiver. Quentin Johnston is a height, weight, speed prospect that will appeal to the Cowboys flashy draft style.
27. Buffalo Bills: Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
The Bills very well could be the team that starts the run on the tier two Wide Receivers, but since there will be some good ones available at there 2nd round pick, I believe they will go with an Offensive Tackle instead. Anton Harrison is an athletic tackle with the movement skills to grow into a good pass blocker. While his run blocking needs some development, Buffalo's high pass offense will minimize this deficiency.
28. Cincinnati BengalsL Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
Joe Mixon's time with the Bengals is limited at best, and given they lost Samaje Perine in Free Agency, they could use another Running Back. Jahmyr Gibbs would give the Bengals a Running Back who excels as a Receiver and as a big play threat.
29. New Orlean Saints (from SF): Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
The Saints were about to sign Foster Moreau before they discovered he has cancer. They also didn't sign anyone else afterwards, which is an indication that they plan to draft a Tight End early. Darnell Washington is a physical freak, who has the upside to develop into one of the best mismatch TE,s in the league. But it is his blocking potential that really draws attention as he could function as a sixth offensive lineman. The Saints are a run-heavy team, so the fit makes a lot of sense.
30. Philadelphia Eagles: Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan
The Eagles struggled down the stretch to stop the run, which is evident by the way the Chiefs ran all over them in the Super Bowl. I fully expect them to draft a Defensive Tackle early, with a good chance of doing so in the first round. Mazi Smith is a powerful and freakishly athletic Nose Tackle who excels at stopping the run but also has the ability to be a sufficient pass rusher. While he projects best as a 1-tech, the Eagles would likely play him significantly at 4i. They could also have Jordan Davis play at 3/4i while Smith plays the 1.
31. Kansas City Chiefs: Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU
It seems every fan wants the Chiefs to trade for DeAndre Hopkins or draft one with this pick. Well the Chiefs fans are in luck as one falls to them. I don't believe they will be aggressive in acquiring a Wide Receiver, but if the opportunity presents itself for them to cheaply acquire one I expect them to do so. Which is why the Chiefs end his perceived fall. Quentin Johnston is a HWS speed Wide Receiver with a good amount of upside, but it is his ability after the catch that gets the Chiefs attention.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers (from Chi): Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
33. Houston Texans: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

36. Los Angeles Rams: BJ Ojulari, EDGE, LSU
